Anti-inflammatory activity The study shows that Cedrus atlantica essential oil used for the anti-inflammatory activity has low concentration which gave 50% inhibition against 5-LOX in the in vitro inhibition test of 5-lipoxygenase activity. This shows that cedarwood performs good on antibacterial activity. Source: Derwich, E., Benziane, Z., & Boukir, A. (2010). The experiment examined the effect of cedarwood essential oil inhalation on pain behaviour and its mechanisms related to the descending opioid, serotonergic, noradrenergic or dopaminergic systems in a mouse model of postoperative pain, induced by a plantar incision surgery (PIS) in the plantar aspect of the foot of mice.
