Organic Niaouli This essential oil is also referred to as Melaleuca quinquenervia which happens to be its botanical name. It is an important essential oil useful in/as antiseptic, nasal congestion, to bring down a fever. The following studies below show the health benefits of organic Niaouli. Anti-inflammatory properties In a study aimed to evaluate the anti-inflammatory properties of the essential oil from the leaves of Melaleuca quinquenervia (Cav.). Wistar rats were used in the study. A decrease in the rate of the edema evolution and displayed significant dose and time-dependent of this edema inhibition after the intervention. The study demonstrated the anti-inflammatory property of Melaleuca quinquenervia leaves’ essential oil suggesting its potential role as adjuvant therapeutic alternatives in dealing with inflammatory-related and respiratory diseases. Analgesic and antipyretic properties In a study aimed to evaluate the anti-inflammatory properties of the essential oil from the leaves of Melaleuca quinquenervia (Cav.). Wistar rats were used in the study. The essential oil showed strong analgesic and antipyretic properties. The dose of tea tree oil showed better activity than that induced by acetylsalicylate of lysine. Toxigenic activity In a study that investigated the toxigenic activity of Melaleuca alternifolia on ochratoxin A (OTA) synthesis by fungi. The production of OTA was dependent on the fungal species, incubation temperature, and the presence of the essential oils. In tests carried out, the oils caused a reduction in OTA of fungal species. Melaleuca alternifolia could be potential biocontrol agents against OTA contamination in food. Pharmacological and nutritional benefits In a study that evaluated the pharmacological attributes and nutritional benefits of tea tree oil. It was identified that Tea tree oil (TTO) is well known for its disinfectant, antiseptic as well as antimicrobial properties. That's why it is found to be most effective in the treatment of skin infections. This oil also possesses nutritional properties but produces toxicity if taken in large amounts.
