Rose oil mainly comes from two varieties. Rosa centifolia is commonly knows as rose maroc, French rose, attar of rose or rose absolute. Rosa damascene is known as Bulgarian Rose, Turkish rose or rose otto.
The major rose oil producing countries are France , Bulgaria , Morocco , Turkey , Italy and China . Among these countries, Bulgaria considered the best rose oil.
The oil yield from roses is low, it is around 200 kg of petals produce about 1 liter of rose oil; therefore it is very costly. |
