| Question: |
This is Mimi and I am 35 years old, I have painful periods. It is since I was a little girl in the high school. When period, I even couldn't attend all PE class. Until now, the situation is getting worse and worse. It's so painful that I can go anywhere or move; I need to take sick leave and stay at home. I started to take painkiller, however the quantity is going double now. I really don't want to take increase the dose or hope to cut it off. I would like to know that is there any solutions that would help? Many thanks!! |

Period pain is part of PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome) symptoms. Many people don't know PMS, and it is a group of symptoms related to the menstrual cycle. It occurs before and after a day or 2 after your period starts. It will disappear afterward. The menstrual cycle affects hormones goes up and down and people react differently to hormonal swings. Some women the whole body feels pain, cramp and swelling, and the mind feel blue and tired etc; some others don't. |
Painkiller and hormonal pill will help; however, both of them have side effects.
Aromatherapy will be the good solution when treating PMS. When you feel pain and cramp, you can simply massage or warm compress the local area, such as lower back, tummy, shoulder. They will help you to relax muscle and sooth your nerve and mind.
For precaution, you should start to massage or warm compress 1-2 weeks before period.
